Biography

Dr. Dave Hickman’s area of expertise is management. His specialties are continuous improvement, employee development, organizational behavior, and strategic management to include establishing mission and vision statements and key performance indicators. Dave spent over ten years in the automotive repair industry as a technician, service advisor, store manager, service manager, and parts manager, and he was ASE Certified as a Technician, Service Advisor, and Parts Advisor. After that he worked for a prominent mortgage company serving as the quality and training manager as well as a loan officer.

Dr. Hickman began teaching in 2014 at Moberly Area Community College as the accounting instructor at the Columbia, MO location. From there he served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Columbia College in the 2016-17 academic year, and then in August 2017 he became a full-time member of the Central Methodist faculty in Fayette. In August 2021, Dr. Hickman became the Program Director for the M.S. in Information Technology Management degree at Central Methodist. In that role, Dave manages all aspects of the program as well as teaching some of the courses. Dr. Hickman has taught classes in management, cross-cultural management, human resource management, small business management, information systems, entrepreneurship, new venture creation, finance, accounting, economics, and business law.

Dr. Hickman graduated magna cum laude from Columbia College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with concentrations in accounting and finance. He also has a Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia College. Dave has a Doctor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in management from Grand Canyon University. Dr. Hickman is also a Certified Manager (CM). He is a member of the Academy of Management, and the Sigma Beta Delta, Alpha Sigma Lambda, and Delta Mu Delta honor societies.
